My name is Robin Hepburn and I am an experienced advisor on business transition issues, including growth and funding questions, business planning and crisis management, across most economic sectors. I work with SME businesses and charities, and I am currently Interim Chief Executive for Beat, the UK charity for eating disorders.

I have held business leadership roles with major organisations in the UK’s public
relations sector, and I also built my own consultancy, with 50+ clients with revenues from £2 million to £20 billion. I started my career in commercial banking with Barclays.

I have acted as a non-executive director as well as a Trustee/Board director for several UK charities.  I was a professional board level advisor to public and private companies in the UK and overseas, and to high profile individuals and trade organisations.

Leadership Support

The loneliness of command is well documented. If you are running a business or charity, having a trusted advisor with whom you can sound out ideas and exchange views is invaluable. Below are some headings to help you decide whether we should have a conversation:

  • Support for organisations in transition - Do you need a confidential, non-judgmental space in which to talk through ideas or share concerns. That is where I can provide support.

  • Strategy and business planning - Strategy is often an over-used word in business. Are you clear on what you are trying to achieve and where your organisation is heading? Do you need help turning your thoughts into a business plan that funders will support?

  • Funding - I bring ideas on funding growth, from working in business banking, alongside private equity, venture capital and helping fund-raise for charities.

  • Facilitating growth sessions - Sometimes it is hard to find time and space to plan out your business development ambitions and that's where a good  facilitator can make all the difference.

  • Opportunities - My decades of experience in the marketing & communications sector can help you build your business profile as well as protect your corporate reputation.

SECTOR EXPERIENCE

I have advised organisations across a wide range of sectors, including:

  • Financial Services, including banks, private equity and risk management

  • Logistics and Transport

  • Retail

  • Trade organisations

CRISIS AND REPUTATION MANAGEMENT

How an organisation responds to a crisis may make the difference between survival and disaster. Having a level-headed, experienced professional alongside you will make all the difference. Here are some issues I have dealt with:

  • Boardroom disputes

  • Suspension/removal of senior directors/staff

  • High Court litigation including sub judice matters

  • Administration, redundancies and corporate restructuring

  • Contravention of regulation

Charitable Trust Administration

For many smaller grant-giving charities, much of the time-consuming administration of the charity

falls on the shoulders of the trustees.
